MODEL 8800.
These are the "Work-Horses' for Effluent analysis. They are use with T.O.C., T.O.D. and Automatic titration equipment and in general causefew problems in useand maintenance.
There are some points give below which may help users and sales points.
The Model 8800 consist of two [2] Model IV filters, either from Polypropylene or Stainless steel[AISI-316]. Thesefilters are in series and sample is pumped under a pressure of between 2 and 4 barg [30 to 60 psig], through the by-pass cavities of the filter bodies.
The pressure range is critical and so is the flow rate.
IT IS IMPERATIVE NOT TO RESTRICT THE BY-PASS SAMPLE FLOW TO GIVE MORE PRESSURE.
FLOW IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR THE FUNCTION OF THE FILTER ACTION !
The filtrate from each filter passes through a cavity block, which has a diaphragm. The filtrate from the two filters is joined in parallel and fed to the analyser, often via a reservoir cup or header.
The diaphragms are connected to an air-operated cylinder, which is controlled from a timer, and pilot operated solenoid valve. This produces a pulse through the liquid, which is transferred to the filter membrane and causes any residue to be dislodged and carried away by the by-pass sample flow to waste.
The diaphragms operate approximately every 15 seconds but this time interval may be varied to suit the application.
All systems are available in EEx- Versions for Europe from Anatrol Limited, using CENELEC approved components. Anatrol have also upgraded the units to meet the "CE" European Directives, the American systems do NOT meet the "CE" standards.
There are also many variations of materials for the bodies and filter diaphragm and piston assemblies.
Filter elements are available from 10 to 100µ, [5µ in special circumstances] in a variety of materials such as polypropylene, AISI-316 and -304 stainless steels. [For exact mesh sizes and support requirements consult your local stockist or representative].
Filter body materials are available in Polypropylene [Standard]. Other materials such as AISI-316 Stainless Steel, PTFE or Kynar [PVDF] are available.
The Model 8800 filter assembly is mounted on a plate approximately 600 by 600mm. These plates may be also supplied fitted into cabinets made from either GRP, Epoxy coated mild or stainless steel at extra cost.
The sample by-pass inlet and outlets sizes are 1/2" NPTi. The sample filtrate outlet is 1/8"' NPTi. Where cabinets are used either 12mm or [1/2'] and 6mm or [1/4'] sample and air connections can be supplied.
An air supply at 4 barg [60 psig] is required to operate the piston or diaphragm. The power supply may be 110 or 240V [50 or 6OHz].
The 8800 units are ideal for sample waters containing sludge. The pressure and flow rates MUST be within the ranges specified unless consultation has been made for a particular problem.
Filter sizes should be ideally 50µ but sizes down to 10µ are quite satisfactory. Below 10µ consultation is essential.
The life of a filter element will vary but three months life is normal and averages of six months are very common. Where 50µ elements are used the customer can expect to see a cloudy filtrate. This can be disturbing to some customers but if 50µ is satisfactory to the analyser it should cause little problem.
