Turbo Filter
The filtering action of these types of filter is a tangential swirling action produced by introducing the flowing sample at an angle into the filter and allowing the bypass to exit at 360o from the inlet. With a velocity of sample flow within the specification limits, this flow motion also has an efficient self-cleaning action. Two filter elements in parallel with the flow are supported by mesh screens and O-ring seals to allow filtrate to pass equally from each side of the by-pass sample flow. The filtered sample from both filter elements is led to a "T" union and the combined and the representative filtrate fed to the analyser.
MODELS I and II. (datasheet) These filters are mainly used to produce a representative and clean sample from process gas samples. They are not suitable for flue gas samples and may cause problems in high proportion multi phase situations. However, they are ideal for the removal of moisture droplets in gaseous or vapourised hydrocarbon samples, [Hydrophobic Filter 0.5 micron]. The swirling action keeping the filter pads clean thus giving a long service life and trouble free maintenance. Applications are mainly in the Natural Gas and Petrochemical Industries These filters can also be used for liquids where the Model IV backflush systems are unsuitable. i.e. 1. For Boiler Waters for dissolved oxygen. 2. On-Line Spectrophotometers sampling Coloured Fluids.
Filter elements are available from 0.5 to 100µ in a variety of materials such as polypropylene, AISI-316 and -304 stainless steels. [For exact mesh sizes consult your local stockist or representative]. Care MUST be taken when considering material and mesh size fora particular application. All Anatrol filter mesh and substrates are of a very high standard and accuracy.
Filter body materials are available in AISI-316 stainless steel [Standard] and also PTFE or Kynar [PVDF]. The latter are used for highly corrosive gases, e.g. Hydrogen Chloride. The Model I filter has a diameter of 3" [75mm] and the Model II a diameter of 6" [150mm]. The latter is used when larger quantities of filtrate are required. i.e. for operating several analysers or for a high demand analyser, or for longer service life.
